The Silent Treatment

I have always loved animals and my family has had 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 turtles, 4 birds and 2 hamsters. Not all at the same time of course, but we are animal people. That is why I have never understood why people abuse their animals. What have they done to them? I believe that the government should start protecting these innocent victims.
Studies have shown to relate animal abuse to criminal behavior. According to the website Through Their Eyes: The National Animal Abuse Registry, quoted Boston's Northeastern University study that found 30% of convicted child molesters and 48% of convicted rapists abused animals when they were children. Animal abuse and cruelty was also practiced by 46% of murders. If the government is so persistent on increasing the punishment of rapists and child molesters, they should first tackle the issue of animal cruelty. This would take away a lot of the predators that are out there.

I can clearly see the argument in this post, and I find it very interesting and debatable. I think the claim pushing the government to protect animals from abuse is well supported by the correlation between abusing animals and convicted felons. I think you should provide more evidence and reasons on this topic, because it holds the reader's attention well enough to be longer. It would be even stronger and more convincing to anyone who doubts your claim. This is a great post.
